What is Adenomyosis?

Adenomyosis is where endometriosis is found within the muscle wall of the uterus. 

A gynaecologist may be suspicious adenomyosis is present because of symptoms and the uterus can look and feel 'bulky'.  Some women can have both adenomyosis and endometriosis.   The symptoms of adenomyosis often respond well to medical treatment and an IUS (Intrauterine System) is often offered. A hysterectomy is sometimes recommended to remove the uterus but this will depend on many factors including your choice.
