Outcomes monitored at the Endometriosis Centre of Excellence at Oxford Clinic Women's Health in Christchurch since 2001 show a three-fold increase in young women under 20 presenting with symptoms suggestive of endometriosis. Of those proceeding to laparoscopy 96% were diagnosed with endometriosis. This confirms that a suspicion of endometriosis from diligent clinical history taking, allows accurate prediction of the disease prior to laparoscopy.
